"Brain Tumor"

Well, I just returned home from my first visit with the Radiation Oncology Center at UTSW. This was quite intense and the first time I heard the word "tumor" in relation to the melanoma spreading to the brain. I also found out that the tumor is 6mm and not 2mm as we initially thought. Nonetheless, they still consider this a small tumor and I will be going through one intense round of radiation -- probably the middle of August. Then, it will hopefully be completely shrunk and not be a problem.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this dear friend. I have no doubt it’s a journey you will tackle with the strength, grace, and positivity that you always demonstrate!! My dad also had a brain tumor. He had an intense, tumor-specific radiation called an “X Knife”. If you hear that term, reach out to me and I will share his experience with you. I know your team at UTSW is excellent and will take the very best care of you. If you ever need/ want a second opinion or treatment plan, MD Anderson is incredible.
