Today was Millie’s 18-month well visit.

On paper, it’s the usual—med lists, updates from specialists, upcoming procedures, and the endless to-do list that just regenerates overnight.

And then we got to vaccines.

For most families, it’s a quick yes, a quick poke, maybe a sticker.

For us… it’s like prepping for a moon landing.

Every system has to check out:

No fevers

No mystery coughs

No seizures in the last 48 hours

No stomach bug in the house

No new meds starting

No travel plans within a week

No procedures coming up

Temperature stability (or as close as we ever get)

Mom and Dad both mentally stable enough to handle a possible rough few days (…debatable)

Today, the stars aligned.

We went for it.

Now we watch and wait—because for Millie, something as “simple” as a vaccine isn’t simple at all.

It’s hope and risk in the same breath.

It’s us doing everything we can to help her stand stronger, while knowing it could knock her down for a bit.

So we prep, we pray, and we get the monitors, meds, and comfort items ready—for Millie… and for Dad, who somehow makes it look like he’s the patient when the nights get long.

We use the tools and knowledge we have, and give the rest to God.
