Hello all of you beautiful givers and prayer warriors and helpers!
The THANK YOU!
I simply cannot express the genuine gratitude I have for each and every one of you; some strangers, some friends but now all family.
Your donations, shares, offers of help and support have kept us in our home another month and paid for out of pocket expenses like blood work, medicine, doctors visits and upcoming ultrasounds not to mention all the trips to the drugstore for things I never knew I needed. Without your giving hearts, I wouldn’t be able to get even the minimal care I’m getting now.
The Story
Well, it a nutshell, Liz Ward saved my life. The doctor said had she not gotten me to the ED when she did it would have been catastrophic for me. Fortunately she insisted( because I fell and was gray and yellow. NBD ) and for the next three weeks I lived at Christiana Hospital where I underwent surgeries and life saving procedures nearly dying more than once.
Since then, I’ve been diagnosed with malnutrition, autoimmune cirrhosis, Hepatic Encephalopathy, 2 different autoimmune diseases, and had esophageal banding, paracenteses, for Varices and a TIPS procedure …the list is long. That was the bubblegum and tape to hold me together until Medicaid is approved and I can go see a specialist team at Einstein Medical. I have a lot of procedures and tests in my future, including a liver transplant, but not without insurance, so please pray they come through!
Between Liz and my Aunt Lydia, they have taken the reigns caring for Alexa-taking us to get her license, getting her to and from her first job, getting me to appointments, running errands and mailing supplies I need to keep me going. And my daughter? That child is nothing less than a miracle! Aced her finals and came straight to the hospital to see me. Amazing!
The Promise
The doctors did all they could for me while admitted and got me out in time to surprise Alexa for her 16th birthday. We cried and hugged and had one of the most special moments in our life. During a hard conversation of what could be if things go sideways before I get proper care, she asked me to promise her I would walk her down the aisle when the time came. So I did. I will walk her, I am determined! I prayed to God to spare my life that first night because I couldn’t bear to be away from her and I don’t ever plan to.
Nothing like nearly seeing the face of God to change everything immediately!
I’m on a strict diet where protein, sodium, fats and water are limited and I adhere to it strictly along with getting out for several daily walks with my new buddy “Dottie the Cane”. I’m pretty much exhausted all of the time and am having some trouble with speech, memory and balance. No longer permitted to drive because of the HE, the wonderful shoppers at Instacart are part of our helping team too :) I’m still working and my boss and colleagues have been remarkable to say the very least.
I am truly blessed to be a part of this entire life-giving tribe!!!
The Favor
If you feel led, would you please share this on your socials? We have a specific need of $1200 or more to pay for an advocate to manage procuring ongoing care to keep me alive. Anything at all you can do we will accept with gratitude ♥️
Well that was a lot but likely not the half of it. Keep sending your prayers, inappropriate jokes, positive vibes and all the good juju but most importantly, help me keep The Promise!
God’s got this,
Michelle
