We have managed to get acupuncture treatments on board for Joshua’s pain, he has had 4 sessions so far. We will continue doing 3 sessions a week for the next 3 months. 
Last week we saw a Rheumatologist, that was not able to provide much help in regards to Joshua’s pain, but did some urgent referrals for pain management at Radys Children’s Hospital in San Diego and CHOC neurology for musculoskeletal issues. We are still waiting for insurance approval for pain management closer to home, but it sounds as if Radys has a better overall program if we cannot manage the pain at home, or the insurance doesn’t approve fast enough. They are also running labs checking for inflammation and several autoimmune diseases. 
Today we had a follow up zoom with his specialist, and they added in some new med management along with adjustments of other medication. Three of the medications are not covered by the insurance and are very expensive. 
They also recommended massage therapy, again not covered by insurance. His pain remains very high during the night time and he cries out in pain and discomfort every night, and needs massage from me nightly to help relax his muscles. All the muscles are very tense and tight which isn’t helping the pain.
