Woo!  We have 2 out of the 3 weeks under our belt, and Merritt has been working so hard in his sessions.  He has gotten much much stronger and continues to impress us.  Jeremy spent the week with him this week, so I was just getting video updates, but I am excited to share some of the things we saw with you guys.

In his first session of the day (called functional hour), he has started to army crawl with the help of a roller table, but he is doing all the pulling with his arms on his own!  He hates this move a ton, because he doesn't like having his arms away from his body, but in just a week, he has completely taken over the work which is amazing.  He also is standing and kneeling way taller and stronger during this hour.

In speech, he has really worked on using his eyes a lot more with his AAC device.  It is crazy to watch and actually made Jeremy cry during one of the sessions because he felt like Merritt was actually using his eyes to tell us he liked his food and wanted more.  In all reality, this may not be true, because we know it usually takes about a year of "babbling" with an AAC device before kids understand its purpose, but even the idea of Merritt talking with us is extremely touching.  You never know....  He might be understanding so much more than we thought, and he is just waiting patiently to tell us all he knows and thinks about everyday.  We are so hopeful.  This weekend I will be releasing a video over on instagram that highlights speech therapy a lot more so go check it out if you are curious about what that looks like :)  His handle is @movingmerritt in case you still aren't following him.

Finally, in DMI (dynamic movement intervention) he continues to do amazing crazy moves with his body.  He worked on sitting while balancing on a ball, standing while on a plank, flipping up into the air, and pressing through his glutes to stand.  This hour is still a favorite to watch, because you never know what our amazing therapist is going to do haha!

The first picture is him relaxing in a hammock at NAPA for fun Friday and the other two pictures are him hanging with me at the reservoir (in all his free time)!  He really loved the sand and water touching his feet.  As always, thanks for following along and supporting our family.  We love you guys!
