Merritt has an amazing team of therapists.  His team includes PT, OT/Feeding, Speech, Vision, and ASL instruction every week. They are truly the heroes behind the scenes.  They notice the tiny changes in Merritt’s progress (often referred to in the medical community as inch stones rather than milestones), and they help us stay grounded and encouraged even when doctors deliver bad news and worst case scenarios. We are forever thankful for the work they put in with our family every week. 

They are also some of the people that continue to encourage us to pursue more for Merritt. Because while he has made progress, life with seizures and cerebral palsy is hard. One day or month he will be really into learning to roll and practice every day, and then all of a sudden, that skill appears as if it is gone.  He probably still has the information somewhere in his muscle memory and brain, but tapping back into that after daily seizures is a struggle. 

We are hoping to pursue some of these more “experimental” procedures as a way to help heal his brain and reduce the inflammation in his body. We are nervous as well, but we are willing to do anything that might make a difference for our little man.
