Hey all,
Just wanted to give a brief update since summer is winding down, and we have been doing so much lately.
Merritt finished his first intensive at NAPA center. He did amazing. During his 3 weeks, he worked on building a stronger core, discovered his legs, and gained more head control. I watched him crawl on all fours and walk in a gait trainer, and both of these things just blew me away. The therapists at napa are some of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met, and I miss going there everyday already. We will be back (hopefully either in September or January or both)!
Right after NAPA, Jeremy and I took our older two kids to California for a wedding and got some much deserved quality time with them. We had so much fun playing in the pool, going on a whale watching tour where we saw a HUGE pod of dolphins with mamas and babies (there were literally hundreds of them), splashing in the ocean, and even spent a day in Disneyland. The trip was magical, and it was all thanks to our amazing friend/caregiver, Robby, who stayed home with Merritt and allowed us to have some quality one-on-one time.
Yesterday, Merritt was also featured in a Newsweek article: https://www.newsweek.com/new-mom-had-gut-feeling-about-sonnothing-could-prepare-her-for-diagnosis-12203247
AND his story was shared by a company called Rifton, which makes mobility equipment for special needs kids. Merritt has their stander and activity chair at our house, and he was also using their gait trainer at NAPA. So both the newsweek article and rifton collab are a pretty big deal :)
Anyways, before you know it, school will be starting and we will be back to our normal days...but this summer has truly been something special. Thanks again for following and supporting our family. We love you guys!
