WOW. I kept refreshing the screen because I couldn't believe how much support was received so quickly—I don't know that I've ever felt so positively overwhelmed in my life! Truly astounded by the generosity and love. Thank you.

It's been a big 24 hours for River. Warming went as well as expected, and so far, no seizures, which is a hopeful sign. She's off all her medications, had her first sponge bath, and Mercedes got some skin-to-skin time and tried breastfeeding. River also opened her eyes for the first time and saw her parents!

We're still waiting on the official EEG/neurologist report, and don't yet know when the MRI will happen as she's slated behind trauma and urgent cases for imaging. As things currently stand, she'll likely be in the NICU another week.

Mercedes will be discharged this evening, and thanks to your support, she and Manny will get to stay very close to the hospital.

The original goal was surpassed within an hour! Since then, a few new moms and moms who've been through the NICU encouraged us to raise it further—knowing more needs are ahead, including the CPAM surgery at CHOC (Children's Hospital of Orange County) in the next few months, meaning another long-term hospital stay, even further from home. I've bumped the goal accordingly; anything unused now will go toward that.

Thank you all, so much, again. Every bit has helped!

And for those who look to the stars: River's big three are Leo Sun, Capricorn Moon (same as her uncle!), and Virgo Rising. She's destined to be warm and expressive at her core, grounded and steady emotionally, practical and detail-oriented on the outside. A true blend of her parents.

Again, thank you. At a loss for words, and at a renewed hope for humanity!
