I just spent the last 10 days in Roanoke with Megan, and the amount of support she is feeling from this community is truly beyond words. She has been so incredibly strong as doctors discuss treatments and what the future may hold. But the love she’s felt from all of you—that’s the thing that finally made her break down and cry. She needed that comfort more than she could ever say.

When we originally set the fundraiser goal, I based it on two years of her out-of-pocket insurance premiums, knowing that because of how late in the year her diagnosis came, she would at minimum be responsible for those costs for both 2025 and 2026.

What we didn’t factor in were all the additional expenses that come with this battle: uncovered medications, expensive wigs, cold caps, the 50 pounds of dry ice needed for each treatment (more on that in a future update), adaptive clothing that makes her port and IVs easier to access, daily living costs, the little treats and moments she wants to create with Everett—and, most significantly, any pay she may miss from work.

Megan is far too proud to ask for more financial help herself, but I know first hand how much financial strain being thrust into that medical world can cause. Even the current goal won’t fully cover everything that is being discussed, but it will help relieve the crushing financial stress that comes with this disease.
