Mason Early Family
Hello again! Quick update- Mason did well in the hospital and his counts rebounded nicely once the medical team decided to stop his chemo. They were able to perform another bone marrow aspiration (try #3 and hopefully successful!) yesterday, Friday, 10/11.
Following the procedure, we were released to go home. Mason and I made a quick pit stop at GA Tech to pick up his big brother, Jack, who came home for the long "fall break" weekend. For the first time in several months, all the children were home and tucked into their own beds last night. This mama's heart was happy.
Mason is feeling good right now. He has gained some good weight over the last few weeks and is only a few pounds away from where he was when we were first diagnosed. We hope the next week at home allows for more home cooked favorite meals and a few more pounds added!
We will patiently wait for the results from yesterday's bone marrow aspiration, which should come in the middle of next week, to determine the next steps of treatment. We have imaging scheduled for Friday, October 25, to determine the status of the Rothia infection. I believe it is the medical team's main goal to get things lined up to quickly move to transplant following those scans- but we continue to take things one day at a time.
That's it for now- might be my shortest update ever but for now we will take it
