Hello! Not much new to report today.

Last night when it was time to go to sleep (following a platelet transfusion), Mason got out of bed and started doing squats. I asked him what in the world he was doing- it was almost 1 a.m. and I was tired. He complained about some tingling in his legs that was bothersome enough that he wasn't able to sleep.

I asked the nurse if there was something we could do to alleviate the tingling (now I know it is called neuropathy), and we ended up giving him some liquids overnight to make sure that it wasn't a symptom of dehydration, since he has been off of the continual fluids for a few days now and we haven't been tracking his calories or water intake (which is a good thing- really- one more step toward being able to go home!). It seemed to do the trick, as he fell asleep and stayed asleep for most of the night.

Mason slept through most of the morning, waking up around 11 a.m. when the doctors stopped by. They let me know that they plan to back down even further on his anti-nausea meds, essentially getting him to a point where he will only take them if he needs them. If he can tolerate this adjustment, it will be a HUGE win and step forward. But we will also make sure that he is covered enough to continue to take in these calories.

He spent some time eating muffins while I took a bit of a break from the room- one of my very best friends and college roommate is in town on vacation and took the time to come meet me for lunch at the hospital. It was SO wonderful to see her and to catch up on life.

When I returned to the room with a tray of wings from the cafeteria, Mason took one bite and requested "real" wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. He had time to eat a solid dozen before PT stopped by the room.

He was feeling well enough to put on socks (his motivational "Baddest of the Asses" socks) and shoes and ended up biking for 2 whole miles in 10 minutes (it was on a stationary bike in the PT gym, but I was still amazed at his drive to do that much!). The therapist also taught him some good stretching exercises to try and help with the neuropathy before bed.

After all that activity, Mason crawled into MY bed and rested for a bit. He requested chicken nuggets for dinner, and is currently working on getting those down before we tackle the nightly chemo pills.

All remains quiet, and we are completely fine with that!
