Mara Bliss
Friends, I have amazing news to share with you. The biopsy during surgery came back as non-cancerous. It appears Mara has a condition called Meigs Syndrome, which mimics all the symptoms of ovarian cancer (https://radiopaedia.org/articles/meigs-syndrome?lang=us).
Less than 1% of ovarian tumors end up being this condition. We are exceptionally fortunate and blessed. Mara will not require chemo or other cancer treatment. They performed a full hysterectomy along with removing the tumor (which was, by the way, 15 x 10 x 12cm, the size of your average cantaloupe). Mara is coming home tonight and just needs 6 weeks or so to recover from the surgery.
We can't thank you all enough for the outpouring of love and support. Mara has touched so many lives and has built an amazing village around her.
It's been a whirlwind day at the end of a whirlwind 3 weeks. We're tired, but ever so grateful. Much love to you all.
