Mom successfully completed her autologous stem cell transplant on August 18th, 2026. The goal was to collect 5 million stem cells, Mom was able to give them 9 million! WOAH!

Prior to her transplant, she had 3 days of "conditioning chemo" which consisted of 2 new/different chemo drugs than she previously took and she had basically zero side effects which was amazing!

The stem cell procedure itself was pretty routine, she was hooked up to the machine for a few hours and then was able to go back to her hospital room to rest. Since Mom has done so well throughout this entire process, her Oncologist allowed her to recover at home vs staying isolated at the hospital for 21 days like we were originally told. Her and my Dad still have to isolate, but it's a lot better to sleep in your bed every night than in a hospital room! My Brothers and I run groceries over to them every few days since they are unable to leave the house. I have started calling them "driveway dropoffs" because we are able to keep our distance/stay in the car and talk to her from about 10 feet away. That has really helped all of us stay connected, hopeful and on the same page.

She has had some nausea, low grade fever and fatigue post transfer, which is to be expected but all of that is getting better as each day passes. Every morning she goes back to the hospital for them to take her blood, check her cell counts and make sure she is where she needs to be.

She is doing so well that the doctors and nurses have said multiple times how happy they are with her recovery, she has basically had the "best case scenario" for someone battling a rare form of brain cancer.

Next week, she will be able to ring the bell one more time to signify the completion of such an intense treatment and celebrate her beating brain cancer!!

Please continue to pray for her healing, recovery and that she remains cancer free! Amen.
