When Sadie was on the Pediatric floor she would look forward to each day for something different.
Monday was group time
Tuesday was Music
Wednesday was therapy dog visits
Thursday was Art
and Friday was our special day to watch movies on the Disney channel.

The programs for the kids are run by the Arts in Medicine department, some of the most amazing, kind, fun, sweet, and understanding people.

One Wednesday Andrew from Arts in Medicine stopped by Sadie's room and asked her if she wanted to story build with him. She could create a fictional world all of her own and he would ask her questions about it and he challenged her to not say "I don't know". The following hour Sadie built a land of 5000 lands- each one having it's own kingdom and rules and then lacing them together and having different characters shine. At the end of the time Andrew asked Sadie if he could come back the following Wednesday and bring some artists with him to try to draw some her lands- and she said yes please. Wednesday then became Therapy dog visits in the morning and world building in the afternoon.

Andrew came back the following Wednesday with not one but three graphic artists. They sat down and talked about Sadie's worlds again and they all drew their interpretations of her worlds-even Sadie gave it a go but she mostly liked to talk about the different lands and the characters. She picked her favorite and colored it and hung all four of them on her wall. They asked if they could come back in a week and continue the work and of course Sadie said yes please.

But.

Sadie found out that Sunday that her miracle heart was found- so she couldn't keep their appointment.

Andrew stopped by to visit Sadie twice while she was in deep recovery, she was sedated both times and still working hard to get out of the deeper depths. It didn't stop him from coming back to look in on her.

When Sadie was up and walking around the unit Andrew stopped by again and sat down with Sadie and told her that he had been reading over his notes about her lands and wanted to know if she wanted to go deeper into developing some of her characters and Sadie was absolutely ecstatic to talk about her world and her characters again. Then Andrew asked Sadie if she'd be interested in being on his radio show. Sadie said: Yes, please!

The very next day Andrew came back with another recording friend and they set about talking about the story of Kia and Bella & Biscuit.

I am happy to share with you that the story is now officially ready to be heard.

It's available to download and stream Episode 240: Adventure: https://artsinmedicine.ufhealth.org/past-episodes/

They’ll be airing the piece on the Wombat this Wednesday (tomorrow). The show starts at roughly 6am EST and runs for an hour. Then it airs again at 6pm EST. The story will air sometime around 6:15. Anyone free then can listen live here https://wmbt901.com/listen-live/ with this link or tune into WMBT 90.1 FM Gainesville if in town.

Sadie loved every minute of this project and Andrew poured a lot of work and care into it.Β
