Sadie Long
Sadie had her three month heart Cath yesterday. The Cath itself is the golden standard of measuring for rejection. Going in her team added a pressure measurement of her aortic stem to check some abnormalities and decide what needed to be done. This was also the first time Sadie was under anesthesia without being paced- and she did amazing.
The first huge bit of good news came immediately after when the doc said that the pressure measurement was even and there's no problem with the stem.
The next bit of good news came when Sadie woke up fighting mad from the anesthesia- which is very typical for Sadie. She's a honey badger after coming out of sedation- fighting with everything she's worth. This time is was a good sign- she was angry but she was awake and alert and able to scream at us that she did not enjoy that experience. Once her feet were back on the ground she was much happier and didn't even remember waking up. In the span of an hour she went from trying to alligator roll out of the wires to sitting politely and taking bites of a blue slush. When we left she said "that wasn't so bad at all".
I got the initial results from her biopsy this morning and they came back 0R- meaning zero rejection. Her body is not rejecting the heart at all. Praise God.
Some of Sadie's lab work is a little wonky but it's possible that she has a small respiratory infection and the blood work is reflecting that. She goes to a local lab in a week for another blood work up to see where she stands on all of her levels.
-AND the best news: We have officially moved to once a month visits. It feels like just yesterday we were in clinic days going constantly and in a blink she's made it so far.
Sadie is a little banged up from intubation this time- most likely caused from her throat already being tender and her body working hard to support it. Her eye is also a bit swollen from a nasty adhesive burn- he body is just incredibly sensitive, especially her skin and the tape they used for her eye lids during the Cath ended up hurting a bit. But. She's healing.
We are home- incredibly blessed and so thankful.
