Lincoln Hocevar
We made it through round 4 of chemo! Lincoln was admitted last Wednesday and discharged yesterday. It was a very long 5 days. This round, we had a difficult time staying ahead of the nausea and Lincoln was very fatigued. The other thing that proved difficult was Lincoln's confusion, apparently a side of effect of one of the chemo's. I'm sure all the different nausea meds didn't help either. Lincoln had a difficult time remembering what he had just done or why we were at the hospital. I ended up watching the same movie 3 times with Lincoln because he couldn't remember it. There were times where he would just start crying and not know why. Thankfully, these symptoms are short term and improved quickly.
We were discharged with time to get to Lincoln's basketball game, which he insisted on trying to play in. He did pretty incredibly, especially considering all the medications he was on. We also got to go to dinner at Camp Sunshine and meet some other families going through cancer.
Lincoln and I are very happy to be home, and the siblings are equally glad to have them back. This week Lincoln will be finishing up with Day Rehab and will hopefully be back in school soon! It will be nice to have things back to normal. Or at least back to this new normal.
Cancer sucks, chemo sucks, Lincoln recently described the hospital as "the friend you never want to visit." But we are very grateful that Lincoln's tumor has a good prognosis, we have met a few parents who can't say the same. We are also incredibly grateful for all of you, all the thoughts, prayers, and all the ways you support us.
Thank you so much,
Larkin
