Hello!

Family and friends, thank you for your support thus far. The meals and donations have been greatly appreciated. I am about 2.5 weeks out from surgery and had my post-op visit today. Here’s the news:

They did not find cancer in my lymph nodes! This is obviously major news and a huge relief. My surgeon said she was diagnosing me as stage 1. My drain has been removed.

Now onto seeing an oncologist for the first time. That is still about 10 days away. This is when I will find out about further treatment. I hesitate to make assumptions here, because I don’t know exactly what the doctor will want me to do, but from the research I’ve done, I should not need chemotherapy.

I am extremely lucky and grateful to have found this cancer early. Likely what I will need is a years long stint of medication to prevent the cancer from returning. I’m scared and worried about that, but I will do what they recommend. Hopefully I won’t have terrible side effects.

In terms of needs, I am still recovering from surgery and I recently tried to do too much. There was a minor setback.  I wouldn’t say no to a meal or two for the next few weeks.

Thank you again for your kind words and support. Please reach out anytime. Once it isn’t icy out there, I’d love to go for a walk, and I am up for having visitors if you are so inclined.
