Kyla is in REMISSION! As of right now, there is no more leukemia detected in her blood or bone marrow.
It was overwhelming news to hear this Wednesday, I honestly didn’t know how to process it at first. Her oncology team was so excited to share the update, and while we are incredibly grateful, my mind immediately went to the road ahead, thinking about side effects, school, her overall mental health, and how she will feel over the next 2.5 years of treatment. So many emotions to process.. but have to remember one step at a time… 🧡 celebrate the small wins!
The Induction phase helped determine her treatment plan, and now the focus is keeping the leukemia out of her system moving forward. Unfortunately, she cannot just stop treatment.
She started the next phase yesterday, and it was a long day for her physically and mentally. Starting at 9am with a lumbar puncture, chemo in her spine, followed by clinic visit for additional treatment. In total, she received 4 different chemotherapies and we didn’t leave until 5pm.
Afterward she was ready to eat! She requested a cheeseburger, garlic fries, and chicken fettuccine. 🍔
Today, Kyla is doing well. We love that she still has an appetite but it’s not as intense like last month. We are mentally preparing for the next couple of weeks as we enter what her doctor says is the most intense phase of treatment with all the procedures. Right now, she’s resting, reading, and just taking it easy, mainly feeling tired.
Side note for Kyla, because she reads this as well!
You are doing something so incredibly hard, and we are so proud of you. We always have been proud of you! We will be right by your side through every single moment, the good days and the tough ones. 💛
Thank you all for continuing to lift her up with your love, prayers, and support.
