Chemotherapy

Today was a bitter-sweet day as I cut my hair the shortest it's ever been in preparation for chemotherapy. I found out a few days ago that I will need chemo. I get fitted for cold capping tomorrow; I hope to preserve as much of my hair as possible with cold capping, but wanted to cut it short to make it more manageable during the process. I will get a port put in next Wednesday at Suburban, and then will start 4 rounds of chemo sometime in mid-to-late June. With this schedule, I am likely to miss a little bit of time at the start of next school year, but not too much. Anxious to get back into my classroom with the kiddos! On that note, I plan to visit my current class on June 16th! If you're a parent of one of my students, SSSHHHHHHHHH, I want them to be surprised!

I am so grateful to be able to donate my hair to children in need; I plan to use the organization "Children with Hair Loss." This organization makes wigs from real hair for children who need them at NO cost! Thanks to Tali and Cindy Dickinson for inspiring me and sending me all the info!

I am healing nicely from my second surgery and hope to be cleared to drive next week. I've had a lot of time to watch the French Open which is a treat for me! (Let's go CoCo!)

Emotionally, I am up and down, and have good moments mixed with bad. Besides my own battle, my father is also battling cancer currently. He began his chemo this week and we're praying that it helps!

You and your dad are in our prayers. What a wonderful gift to donate your hair. The kids will be THRILLED to see you at your surprise visit. And, go Coco!
