Roller-coaster ride

Ken had a rough night. He is not tolerating the formula. His sugar is spiking really high, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea so we stopped the feed starting iv fluids. After speakin  with the GI docto  and nutritionist the plan is to do an xray just to double check the j tube portio  is still in the correct place and look at what other brands of formula may work. The nutritionis  said the osmolite is the best formula for a j tube due to the consistency of the formula but they will look at all options available before making a decision. While total PPN would he a last resort if nothing else works we would prefer he not go to PPN only which is total dietary and nutrition through his chemo port and would raise his risk of infection even higher. He is strictly tube feed only now because his risk of aspiration is so high with how weak his throat muscles are. He is resting comfortably right now after taking something for his headache and mouth pain which are side effects of the radiation.
