All,
Karen is recuperating from Thursday's surgery and has just been discharged home. The doctors said the surgery went very well. They are confident they were able to get at least 98% of the tumor and that the pre-op fluorescence medicine they gave her really lit everything up so it was a very easy resection, though chemo and radiation will follow in a month regardless. Unfortunately after operating, they are confident it is a grade 4 glioblastoma, though we will wait up to 10 days for the pathology results to come back. While this diagnosis is heartbreaking, we are keeping the faith in all positive possibilities. If anyone will be a positive outlier, it will be her. We are so unbelievable thankful for this village of people that surround Karen and our family. It is a very special thing to have a support system like this and we don't take it for granted for one moment. <3
Some words transcribed directly from her bedside to you all: "Hey my loves I am not sure that I will ever be able to explain the ever expanding reach of God's hands and the love that flows through them to everyone in my life. No matter who your God is, keep loving each other. Keep believing in goodness. I’m grateful for today, I’m grateful that I can explain how the g-force of this crash landing from 'Oz' has released the pressure that I’ve always wanted to release into the world. I adore you and I’m so glad you’re all connected now. You always were, but it’s so obvious to me now."
