Upcoming Procedure

We are thankful that the chemo treatments are keeping Marcus' cancer in check. Unfortunately, it is getting harder and harder for Emory staff to administer it because his veins have receded, and so they are having to stick Marcus multiple times every 3 weeks to find a vein that works. They have a four-stick rule, so if they can't find a good vein by then, the patient is sent home and treatment delayed. We don't want this to happen of course, so Marcus' doctor has recommended that he have surgery to install a port. This will occur next Tuesday, March 25. It will be outpatient, thank goodness.

The port sounds like a good idea. Stuart had one at one time. Thank you for keeping us posted.

Catherine and Marcus, I can only imagine how frustrating to experience the 4-stick rule, but I'm glad there is a solution. I am hoping the procedure will go swiftly and smoothly.

Glad they are able to find a better solution than so many pricks and skipping a treatment. We were happy to see Marcus out for a walk recently. It was a pretty day and I’m glad he felt good enough to get a walk and some fresh air.
