I am pleased to report that Marcus returned safely from Sweden and without airport delay. I was so worried about him traveling because his endurance is not what it used to be. He was relieved to be able to see his parents and help around the house. His mom is still declining, but I could tell that his visit did wonders for her spirits.
Unfortunately, just before Marcus left town, his PET scan results came back showing cancer growing in his sternum. This added to my worry, but this week he met with a radiologist who said that she could administer very targeted radiation to the site to hopefully neutralize this threat. He will have a few rounds of radiation immediately after we return from a soccer tournament in Orlando next week and then will have to continue chemo a week after that. So, much of April will be tough for Marcus, but if radiation to this site works as expected, he should not have to repeat it. In the meantime, we plan to enjoy our trip with soccer friends, watching great games, eating well, and relaxing by the pool! We feel fortunate to have the funds and ability to make the trip.
