Easter Sunday Disaster
Jeff & Patty Williams
My parents were able to attend church together on Easter Sunday, and after a lovely service and some time spent socializing, they went to lunch with friends.
After lunch, on his way to the van, Dad suffered an episode - very likely another stroke - and missed the handicap ramp entirely. He rolled off the curb and landed flat on his face on a speed hump in the parking lot. Someone called 9-1-1 while my panicked mom reached out to my sister to spread the word and let the family know what was happening.
EMS took Dad to Northside Gwinnett, and they admitted him for possible stroke. He had a gash over his left eyebrow, abrasions/road rash on the side of his face, and bruising on his knees and legs. He was conscious, but his cognitive responses were definitely affected.
Dad got 10 stitches in his head and had a CT scan and x-rays. He has pneumonia in his left lung and gas in his left kidney. Poor guy has been in constant, excruciating pain, but because of low BP, the doctors have not allowed him sufficient meds to ease his pain for most of his time there.
My sister Shan came in clutch and stayed the night with Dad so mom could go home and get some rest, having dealt with "the most traumatic experience I have ever had with your dad." Shan passed the torch back to Mom this morning, and my brother Jeremy and sister Debbie are both headed to the hospital as well. Sister Ashley & family are currently in Florida, and I am in coastal Alabama, so we are unable to immediately visit, and are receiving real-time updates from the family.
The included picture is the cleanest after-stitches shot. If you are inclined to see the before pictures, please send me a private message, and I will share them with you.
We covet your prayers and are so grateful to those who have reached out already to show concern support.
