Things have changed... 7/26/24

Jason Henkel and Family

I am not going to lie the last few days have come with some big changes in Jason. He is getting more and more confused when he is awake. Which is barely at this point and is sleeping almost 99% of the day now. He really only wakes when he is needing pain meds or feels the urge to use the bathroom. Yesterday, he only took a few bites of food here and there.

We have decided that we will not be having any more visitors. I really want people to remember Jason standing on the side of the basketball court or coaching 1st base, not how he is now. I appreciate all of you who have reached out and come for a visit, even if you were not able to make it. If you still would like to reach out and send me a text or Jason a text, I will make sure to read them to him.

At this point we are asking for prayers of an easy and peaceful passing for him. All of your support and love is felt by the kids, my parents, Glen and I every day.

Jason is preparing to go home to be with Jesus, and with the sadness it gives us, we should all be happy that he will soon be pain free and living in the healthy body, hitting all the pop flies he wants.

I love you . The impact you made on me in highschool was huge even if you didn’t notice. All our conversations during my time at south and whenever we saw each-other outside of the schools was always great. I hope you realize how loved you really are . You made me want to be a better man . I ever when you have me a PE award and I said I don’t want it because that’s something I should be doing. I remember Jason taking Jan to a healer and her wish was that he could have more time. His mom was proud of him as am I. People aspire to the man that Jason is and always be remembered as such an inspiration to so many. He spread God’s love through his grace. I love this guy and all of you too.
