Mom finished her first round of chemo last Thursday, May 7th. By Saturday afternoon, she was really feeling the effects of the treatment, with nausea and a migraine. She also dealing with some anxiety. She slept most of the day on Sunday, but was able to eat a little bit. She's gradually been feeling more like herself since then.

Today, the kids were so excited to spend time with their Lolli while I went to Augusta Health for genetic testing (for the gene mutation that caused the cancer in mom) & went to get fresh groceries for her.

She seems to be feeling much better today and has been able to get around and fold laundry (a huge win for her). :)

We think that the immunotherapy that she receives during chemo every 3 weeks is what caused the nausea, and will be trying some new medication the next time she gets that.

The immunotherapy is a non-negotiable though. It is THE most expensive medication during treatment but when the oncologist gave us the option of getting it, we didn’t think twice about it.

Its role is to bind to the PD-1 receptor on T-cells, preventing cancer cells from using that pathway to shut down the immune response. In short, it boosts the immune system.

Prayers:
1. That her body responds better to her second treatment happening tomorrow.
2. That there be no side effects (yep, none, because God can do that).
3. Pray that my brother Alex & I do not carry that gene mutation. We both have a 50/50 chance of having it.
