A little update on Heidi:

At Heidi’s appointment today we realized she actually has one more treatment next week before a break until she starts a new treatment in August. She’s getting through it like a champion. In August, she’ll begin a new treatment, and we’d be so grateful if you’d continue covering her in prayer as she enters this next phase.

If you know Heidi, this won’t surprise you…even in the middle of chemo, she’s still pouring her heart into Village to Village whenever she’s able.

Today she was working on the schedule for Alaska Camp, helping plan our Voices of the Village dinner in September, and continuing to make sure local families are cared for. Her heart for this ministry has never wavered.

Cancer hasn’t changed her calling. It hasn’t stopped her from loving people well or allowing God to use her. Even in one of the hardest seasons of her life, she continues to serve with faith, grace, and unwavering trust in the Lord.

Heidi posted a message yesterday that we wanted to share that gives a little insight into her day to day and some specific ways you can be praying. Thank you for all the ways you continue to support Heidi and her family through this season!

From Heidi:
Because I know you all are praying and supporting and loving us so well I wanted to share about my week. This has been the hardest to date since I got my diagnosis. I'm not sure why other than chemo is weekly and my body is slowing down a little more with each treatment.

I am asking for specific prayer over a few things I am struggling with:

Vision, it has changed and I am wearing two different sets of glasses and broke one of them. I also think this is causing a little nausea that I have not had since the first week.

My tongue is always on fire and my taste buds are all but gone. This seems like it should be a small thing but daily it's a struggle to eat and keep my weight up. It's been very discouraging this week.

Chemo brain is getting worse. I have lost things, forgot to plug the crock pot in, did not close the freezer tight and just can't get my thoughts straight. Nothing major but enough to remind me I am in a fight right now.

My biggest struggle is the Spiritual Battle going on. I KNOW God is good and His plans are for me. But the small day to day issues can make life hard and I want more than anything to represent Him well, even on the hard days.

BUT in all the mess God is giving me sweet days with my grandkids, walks with friends, a home I feel safe in and a family that is fiercely fighting for me.

-Heidi
