The GVHD rash has now spread over Jazmyne’s entire body. The itching and redness are so severe that even clothing touching her skin is painful. We have been unsuccessful in finding her relief—no ointments and no IV medications have helped ease the discomfort. Because of this, she will need to go back on steroids to try to calm the rash and increase her PCA morphine dose. The steroids should also help alleviate the wet cough that began overnight.

Last night was incredibly difficult. Between the intense skin pain and the frequent, painful trips to the bathroom every 30 minutes, there was no sleep at all. Within a three-hour period, Jazmyne required boluses of morphine, Benadryl, Nubain, and oxycodone—yet even with all of that, her pain remained uncontrolled. At one point, her oxygen levels dropped significantly, and she required supplemental oxygen to help her breathe. Jazmyne is now back on continuous oxygen monitoring.
