Harper's Recovery
Probably an hour after I posted an update yesterday, Harper spiked a fever right before she was supposed to get blood. We ended up having to send the blood back to the hospital, do a blood culture and start antibiotics. Since she is neutropenic she had to be admitted.
While we waited for a room she got platelets and broke out in hives despite being premeditated with Benadryl. Fortunately she wasn’t too bothered and some extra Benadryl took care of it.
Once she was admitted we held off on giving her blood until she could get another full dose of Benadryl to avoid any additional reactions.
She finally got blood and slept very well. Today she has had pretty good energy and has been more herself. Her oncologist is hopeful she will start making some WBC by tomorrow based on how she is acting. Hopefully if her counts improve and her culture is clear for 48 hours we will get to go home tomorrow.
