Day +21… it’s been a while since an update. First they told us we were going home last week and then they changed their minds. That was HARD… real HARD. We are tired of being here.. the beeps… the gowns… the gloves it’s a lot, but the care continues to be great.
Last week he did experience some graft vs host disease. It appears to be clearing up. We don’t want this to be chronic… that won’t be good. His blood levels are recovering nicely. He’s lost over 30 pounds since we have been here. Eating a big chore these days. Tomorrow he will be discharged to go back to the hotel. No I don’t know for how long… it will be up to the doctor. He can only eat home cooked meals for the next 100 days so that will be fun… and the med list is over 20 prescriptions now. I’m so overwhelmed and miss my kids so much….
Just to clear up some questions…. In our plea for complete healing… the transplant’s job is to put him in COMPLETE remission permanently. WE DONT WANT ANY FURTHER TREATMENTS. THAT MEANS SOMETHING IS NOT GOOD IF WE DO. NO MORE CHEMO. NO IMMUNOTHERAPY. NO RADIATION. Nothing. Please Lord let this season be just that.. a season we experienced and the season is over.
Our next hurdle is a bone marrow biopsy in 10 days. It will tell us if her cells took over. That’s what we need. FULL ENGRAFTMENT.
Prayer REQUESTS:
-to be able to transition back home in God perfect timing
-bone marrow biopsy to show favorable results
-no graft vs host disease
-reduce anxiety and fears
-continued strength for Greg and his appetite to return.
