A Sunday Update: 

  The cultures continue to come back negative. After a consult with the infectious disease team, the doctor believes it was a contamination in the lab. The picc line site is clean and not infected. This specific bacteria doesn’t appear on the inside of the body.. so Im told. I was insistent that he remain there for the rest of today as it will be 48 hours since his last culture drawn. I refuse to take him home too early. So as long as there is no fever or any finalized positive results he will come home tomorrow. 

 

He will remain on antibiotics for what appears to be a bout of pneumonia. I’m not 100% convinced but will follow up with our regular doctor about it. Tuesday we will see our regular doctor to I hope to get more clarification on this.
