Greg asked that I share the update of the past few weeks.

I grew up hearing the phrase, “No news is good news…”  Over the past month, we have realized it could be rephrased to, “No news means there is a lot of news.”

During Greg's hospital stay, he was diagnosed with an ileus, which is a paralysis of the intestine.  Greg was also being watched for pneumonia.  The ileus required the most uncomfortable of effective medical interventions.  The testing, while hospitalized, also showed he had low potassium and high sodium levels.

Greg was released from the hospital on May 11. We immediately began seeing doctors and having frequent blood panels.  Another answer to our prayers (even if we didn’t know what we were praying for) included a delayed visit to an endocrinologist.  God’s timing is perfect…we had tried to find and book an endocrinologist appointment since December.  The first appointment we could get as a new patient was May 12…the first full day Greg was out of the hospital! (We had tried to rebook this, BUT GOD knew we would need it on May 12.)

Our endocrinologist has been amazing.  Personally calling and having his office follow up many times.  Based on all the blood work the doctor has been able to identify that Greg has diabetes insipidus and hypothyroidism.  His symptoms alone point to these conditions. We are grateful Greg is responding well to the new medications.

The last three weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster.  Between the week long hospital stay, followed by doctors and lab appointments the information was changing quickly and often.  Thank you for understanding, but most of all, praying.  We ask that you continue to pray as we now make new appointments with the specialist in Duke.  Greg will again have an MRI and consultations to determine how to continue to fight the cancer.

Thank you to our stadium filled with prayer warriors. As God has led you to pray,  we have been encouraged by your specific prayers. Thank you!  Many of you ask how to pray.  My response typically is to keep praying for God’s Will, God’s glory and a revival.  We are reminded over and over that Jesus and His Spirit are praying on our behalf.  THEY KNOW what to pray…WE TRUST THEM.  Actually they probably would change the opening phrase to:  “No news is the same news and it truly is GOOD NEWS!” j
