Graham's Journey
With the diagnosis also came the chance of seizures. Graham had his first one when his eardrum ruptured a couple of years ago. That was scary… never seeing one and not knowing what to do. A trip to the ER happened. Luckily enough it was controlled, but Graham’s little body took a huge hit. He was exhausted for a couple days after that and slept a lot for his body to recover.
A sleep study was ordered in Columbus to see if he was having any seizures through the night. Graham has what we call starry episodes… it’s where you just stare off. I think most of us have them.. I call it zoning out. But sometimes Graham needs help coming back out of those episodes. You just cover Graham’s eyes to bring him back into focus. They said these episodes are not seizures... Thank the good Lord for that.
But that one episode was enough to put him on anti-seizure medicine and to have a rescue seizure medicine on hand. Lucky enough, Graham has had very few seizures.
