Help Ethan Walk with Trexo Robotics
It has been a while since I have updated. While I agree you would think it is a super exciting time and I would be updating all of you with Ethan enjoying his new found freedom. In actuality the last month has been a little bit anti-climatic, let me explain....
We received his Trexo in early June and it did take us a bit longer than planned to put the walker and trexo together :). See attached photo. We then completed training to ensure that we knew what we were doing. It is easy for Ethan to get hurt using the Trexo if not set up correctly, so I appreciate the Trexo folks wanting to make sure that we understand how the device works!
We finally had our set up meeting later in June and after an hour of fitting we were able to get Ethan up and walking in the house. He took 31 steps that day. I thought we had a big house, but he made light work of getting from one end of the house to the other, which I have to admit was amazing to see.
But it did make us realize that we had to set up the treadmill we also purchased, as that was going to be the best way to get his walking in on a day to day basis. This is where we have had some challenges. We have had a couple of sessions trying to get Ethan up and walking on the treadmill and to be quite honest we can't get it to work correctly. So unfortunately at this point the trexo has been sitting on the treadmill for a couple of weeks and Ethan has not been able to use it. Not what we were expecting :(. That being said, we are fortunate enough that Trexo is a Canadian company located in Mississauga and we have made an appointment to take our equipment there next week to get him fitted by the professionals. We are hopeful that we will be able to get this all sorted out. Worse case we will not be able to use on the treadmill and will have to take him out and about in the community a bit more.
We are super grateful that through all your support we have this chance and I am sure he will be up and walking around on a regular basis soon. Thanks so much to all of you again and hope to share some better and more exciting news in just over a week.
