Our fierce, beautiful boy Mattie has passed away. He is no longer in pain. He is free.

We love him more than words could ever hold. Every breath, every decision, every moment of this fight was wrapped in our love for him. That love doesn't end. It never will.

Mattie gave everything he had—and somehow kept giving more. Through so much suffering, he still smiled, laughed, loved his people, and made us proud every single day. He fought with everything he had, and we stood with him every step.

💚 He’s not in pain anymore.
💚 We’ll see him again.
💚 Fuck NF. Fuck mitochondrial disease. Fuck brain tumors. Fuck spinal cord tumors.

Thank you for standing beside him—and us. He mattered. He always will.

While I never knew Mattie personally, I was very impressed by his spirit and way of doing things his way! Katie & Michael, I was in awe of how y’all advocated for all of your children and wanted to make each day special! Mattie is a true hero in all of this, and he is now your angel!
