A Day in the Life of George & Kitty

It’s pretty incredible to think about how much life has changed in just a couple of months. Things that we never knew existed are now just part of George’s everyday routine. So we thought we’d share a little glimpse into what a typical day looks like for George and Kitty these days. 💚

Every morning starts with a checklist. George gets up and checks his weight, sends his CardioMEMS reading, takes his temperature, and checks his MAP (blood pressure) with a Doppler — because with an LVAD, he doesn’t have a traditional pulse you can feel (wild!!)

Then it’s time to check his LVAD — power, flow, speed and PI — along with a safety check of all of his equipment and backup supplies. 🔋❤️

And then come the meds… 14 prescriptions at this point. 😅 Once the morning routine is finished, the focus turns to getting stronger: walking, exercises and slowly rebuilding the strength and stamina he lost during such a long and difficult hospitalization.

His weeks are still filled with labs, Heart Clinic appointments and cardiac rehab, and there’s a lot that goes into keeping George healthy. But what once felt completely overwhelming is slowly becoming normal.

The best part is seeing George become George again. 💚

He’s healing. He’s getting stronger. He’s becoming more independent. And after everything that happened this summer, we’re now talking about something that once felt very far away — getting him ready to go back to work soon.

We continue to be incredibly thankful for everyone who has supported George, prayed for him, checked in on us and followed his journey.

George & Kitty are quite the team. 🔋💚 One day at a time, they’re getting back to life.
