Felix's Service Dog Journey

We’re incredibly grateful to share that we’ve found a promising service dog candidate, and he will be arriving next week to begin this important journey with Felix. This isn’t simply about welcoming a new puppy into our family—it’s the beginning of a long-term process focused on giving Felix greater safety, support, and independence.

Over the next two years, we’ll be working closely with an experienced Atlanta-based service dog trainer to provide extensive, individualized training tailored to Felix’s needs. Our goal is to prepare him to provide mobility support and practical assistance, including tasks such as counterbalancing, bracing, retrieving dropped objects, and opening doors. These skills could help Felix navigate more safely and independently while allowing him to focus his attention on where his feet are going.

This will be a significant commitment of time and resources. In addition to the puppy itself, there will be substantial costs for professional training, equipment, veterinary care, transportation, and ongoing service-dog expenses.
