Biggest Update Thus Far 08/27

UPDATE FROM KELLY:

“Vivian’s pathology report came back. She has a very rare tumor called ETMR (embryonal tumor with multilayer rosettes) and the location of it means it is not possible (at this time) to remove it through surgery. She's also on the younger end of the spectrum of kids who usually get this disease, so she cannot get full brain and spinal radiation at this time. That would be too dangerous for her developing brain.”

“She will undergo six weeks of a

"basic" chemotherapy treatment, then she will have a four week period of HIGH dose chemo with a stem cell rescue procedure. She will repeat this cycle three time. Some of that time will be spent in the hospital and some of that can be outpatient. She will have many MRIs along the way, but the first one will be after the first six week period (right before she does high dose chemo with stem cell rescue).”

“We don't want to wait until the night before the scan to ask for prayers for a shrunken tumor. We desperately want all of our prayer warriors to be praying with us for the next six weeks that these treatments would be sooo effective that doctors are astonished at the disappearance of this tumor.

However, we will be patient and we will surrender to God's perfect will. We welcome any kind of miracle God wants to perform, whether that be a medical miracle or a spontaneous miracle.

Because let me be very clear, when/if our good God wills Vivian is healed from this disease it WILL be a miracle. Look up metastatic ETMR for an 18 month old if you don't believe me.”

Prayer warriors, your prayers for the family are working so miraculously because then Kelly said this— “We are full of so much hope, so much faith, and so much trust. Life looks very different for all of us right now. Yet, in so many ways it's the same because our job as parents is the same: love our kids with all our hearts, show them Jesus through our actions, prayers, and discussions - laugh and cook and eat and make jokes and hug and play and comfort and nurture... I could go on and on. Being a parent is the best part of my whole life because it's the most important job that God has given me and Garrett. So, it is my joy to take care of Vivian during this time and be there for my other children (albeit from far away).”

KEEP THOSE PRAYERS COMING, FRIENDS AND FAMILY. For Vivian, for Kelly and Garrett, for the older siblings, for the friends and family who love the Fincannons so much and hurt with them. Pray, pray, pray!!
