It's been 2 weeks since surgery and overall I am feeling ok.  My pain was well managed with Tylenol during the first few days and no medications after that.  My biggest struggle is my movement restrictions: no bending down, no picking up anything more than 10#, no pushing anything more than 10#.  I can't do any activity that involves my core, so my legs are getting very strong!

My parents were amazing at helping me tackle a lot of household tasks and cooking food.

I took my first drive (as a driver) and I will be staying close to home.  I don't want any sudden movements that could delay my healing.

This is not the summer I thought I would have, but I am of the perspective: at least I get to have a summer.  I'm leaning strongly into letting my body heal and not rushing it.

My neighbor's son (who is only 11) will be mowing my yard for the season!  What I need most from people are visits and general help around the house (light cleaning, laundry).  :)

Hi Elise! A year ago I almost ended up having a hard to recover spine surgery. To my surprise, I dodged it but I was going to ask some friends to help me. I would like to come and help with whatever you need done around the house . I cook well and can do chores. Can’t lift heavy items due to the back. Please do accept my offer. We should always support each other. Hope to hear from you! Cris
