Elias has officially transitioned into a rehab facility and is beginning the next phase of recovery. The adjustment has been a little rough (understandably), and he is still experiencing periods of confusion while getting used to the new environment. In true stubborn fashion, he has also made it very clear that he would prefer to leave immediately and is not particularly thrilled with the concept of “supervised rehabilitation.” Unfortunately for him, rehab staff tend to be highly committed to their jobs. 

That said, there have still been a lot of encouraging moments. He is much more alert, interactive, expressive, and continues showing more of his personality every day. Recovery from a neurologic injury is a marathon, not a sprint, but seeing glimpses of him again has meant everything to the people who love him.
