Today’s update August 26th

Good evening to Eliana’s prayer warriors,

Most days, I get the blessing of posting a new update from Emo. He has such a way with words and I find myself completely enraptured in his writing as if I were there, watching this miracle unfold before my eyes…but tonight, due to the sheer exhaustion of both Emo and Shar, you’ll have to be filled in by me…a close friend that is trusting the Lord for the complete healing of this precious girl. 

Emo’s brief update to me tonight only stated this:

 “…Much of this night has passed me by…so many beautiful milestones for Eliana. I haven’t written anything except that she has demonstrated many things that are amazing to us, such as when she used her voice tonight for the first time…it was raspy and shaky, but we heard her as she looked at Shar and said, “Mom, you look beautiful.” 

Earlier today, Shar shared with me that Eliana’s platelets came into the normal range and that her hemoglobin did not get significantly lower. The dialysis machine was malfunctioning a bit last night, which led to a very tiresome night for both Eliana and her daddy, who is her faithful sentinel all through the night. 

We are still praying that Eliana would be able to start producing urine on her own so that she can begin intermittent dialysis and then eventually no dialysis…this would be huge.

Eliana continues to receive physical therapy, and today she was able to lift her arm about 3 inches on her own…no small task after two weeks in a hospital bed. 

Eliana still has a ways to go, but she is making huge strides in her recovery everyday. I’m not certain where you are in your faith journey, but as a friend who stood in the pediatric intensive care unit with her last week while she struggled so intensely, I believe the Lord is healing her. I stand with you in amazement that she’s awake and speaking. And just several hours ago, another “first” since her crisis…she stood. Not alone, but with her care team surrounding her.

 I long for the day when we will all see her walk out of the hospital…and I’m hopeful that day is coming soon. For now, we continue praying for this amazing girl. 💗
