Hello to all that have been following along. And thank you for doing so.
Dev is now one week post op. She is doing really well pain wise. Before surgery, her baseline pain was normally a 7 or 8, with flares up to 10 and beyond. It was awful. Since surgery, her baseline seems to be 4-5 (and getting better!) with flares of pain up to 7 at the most. The pain meds they gave her post surgery actually help her now with pain where they used to not even touch it. It has been amazing. Dev has had to be reminded to slow down and take it easy and still rest because she physically feels so much better than she has in a long time, even though there is still some pain.

We just got pathology reports back, and it seems as though she didn't have adenomyosis as we thought, but she did have cysts and a possible blood clot in her left ovary. Either way we are glad that her uterus and ovary are no longer there to cause problems and pain. Hopefully this will keep her Endo more in check, although the more we learn about this disease, the more we realize that it is a whole body issue that seems more related sensitive to hormones rather than a period/hormone issue. It is fascinating some of what is being discovered as we are learning more.

The main thing we are focusing on now is her mental/emotional healing, and a major component of that is dealing with the massive hormone drop she is having. At 20 yrs old, she is in prime hormone production, and she has had an IUD for the last year and a half. So by removing her left ovary and her IUD along with her uterus, her system is in a major state of shock. So we are navigating all that. We are also working with her doctors to make sure that her meds get evened out and that we address the grief along with the relief that has come with this surgery. There is still lots going on, and much healing to do. But I think we are on the right path.

I am in awe of this young woman. She is stronger than she knows. I know it is hard and she hurts on many different levels. But she keeps pushing through. I don't have words to say how proud I am of her.

Thanks again for listening and following along. We appreciate it and all of you!
