Stenting Postponed!

At our clinic appointment yesterday, the team decided to do another CT to see if any inflammation had gone down in the portal vein and the narrowing had improved before going in for the stenting procedure tomorrow. David's last CT was a little over 2 weeks ago, so we didn’t have the highest hopes for any changes, but we figured it was worth the extra imaging for a chance to skip another procedure and hospitalization.

The last CT showed the portal vein about 3mm open. The CT yesterday showed the portal vein about 7mm open!! A normal portal vein is about 12mm, so it is still narrowed but we are encouraged by the improvement!!! AND best of all it means they cancelled the stenting procedure for tomorrow. The plan is to come back here in 3 months for another CT and evaluate if he needs a stent at that time. He will continue on blood thinning medication to make sure it doesn’t get worse. We are praying it improves over 3 months and he won’t need a stent!

We are very grateful to have it canceled for now!!! Each procedure and hospitalization is very exhausting, so it is a joy to scratch this off the list! David will have labs again Thursday and another clinic appointment on Monday. If all goes as planned, we are scheduled to come home Tuesday 7/2! 🙌🏼 We are very excited!!! We are praying no curveballs get in the way of us making it home! Thank you for all the continued love and prayers, we will keep you updated when we make it back home! ♥️
