Shanda and Tyler met with Jackson’s doctors a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately didn’t get the news they were hoping for. An MRI showed two small new spots in his brain and five new tumors in his spine. One of the spinal tumors is pressing on his spinal cord and is causing the weakness on his left side.

Because the cancer has spread, they won’t be continuing the clinical trial. They have started radiation again. At this point, the options are very limited and are focused on buying more time with Jack.

Through all of this, their focus hasn’t changed: doing what’s best for Jack and keeping him as comfortable, happy, and feeling like himself as long as possible. They are not planning to share the full prognosis with him right now. They will tell Jack and Krista that a new tumor was found and will be removed, and they’ll take things one step at a time from there.

They’re continuing to hold onto hope and pray for a miracle while doing everything they can to support both kids. Making sure Krista feels seen and supported is just as important to them as caring for Jack.

Jack is still being his positive, ornery self and refuses to let this monster define him. His strength amazes everyone around him.

Jackson’s mobility and sleep have been significantly affected by the new tumors. The doctors are hopeful the radiation will relieve some pressure.  

Jackson was recently baptized with his sister surrounded by family and friends.  He also made it to school a few days last week to spend time with his friends.
