It's been awhile since I've updated everyone. I wanted to start with telling everyone who has prayed & sent donations. That has helped so much. Tyler has stopped working so that he can help be here with Jack & love on him daily.
Many know that this last month Jack has been put on hospice. He has been pretty stable for the majority of it. But on Friday, 4-24-25, Jackson had an extremely horrible night due to pain & pressure in his head. We weren't able to get the pain under control until the early morning hours of Saturday the 25th. Since we don't feel he really slept & rested, we let him continue to sleep. Around noon on Saturday, Tyler & I tried waking him. He would not wake up. We continued through out the day and by early afternoon we decided to call the on call hospice nurse to come out and check his vitals. The nurse is that came out got her as fast as possible and was so extremely kind. She took his vitals and said that all things considered, he looked great. She did however confirm that it was due to his cancer progressing, which makes sense since he was telling us the day before he had a lot of pressure in his forehead. She talked with us and gave us signs to look out for so that we can continue to keep him comfortable.
Since Saturday Jackson has been sleeping. He has been able to open his eyes a little and move his left hand & arm. Other than that his body is still. He has not ate or drank anything.
Until yesterday! Yesterday the 29th, Jack started being able to nod yes or no when we asked him things. We gave Jack some juice & water yesterday and he was able to drink them both. Little sips here and there. We moved him to the couch and he picked a movie to watch by pointing to them. He even started holding a cup and trying to drink on his own. It was amazing! He's still not able to talk but we're figuring out a new way to communicate.
Today, April 30th, he was awake and drinking some water. But did let us know he was having some more pain than days before. Which isn't great but we're glad he's able to help let us understand what he needs & wants. His breathing has been changing a little which is scary but we know it's all part of it. As of right now Jack is sleeping a lot but when he's awake, we are soaking up staring into his big beautiful blue eyes. And get the rare hug from him.
We have had a lot of visitors coming to see him. We understand many people want to be able to come and see him and possibly say their goodbyes. Please know that if you're calling and we don't answer, it's because talking is hard for us right now. So just send a text and we will try to reach out. Having a lot of people here is a lot for Jack and at times can be overwhelming. So please just text us and we'll let you know if it's a good day to stop by.
We appreciate everyone who has stopped by and sent sweet messages. We've seen them and we love you all more for them. We're trying to keep this as calm and quiet as we can for Jack so that he stay more comfortable. Our family appreciates all the messages and support we've been given through this entire journey. We can never repay any of you.
I will try to update more if things change. Thank you so much for your love, support & prayers.
