Cody and Annie Thibault
Yesterday was a long day of waiting, ups, downs, and more moving rooms. Annie was pretty uncomfortable all day and our temporary room wasn’t the best, but it was better than the ER hallway at least. We were finally able to talk to the surgeon and his team and after reviewing everything she’s been going through, the next course of action is another surgery later this week. They said they could possibly treat what’s going on, but the fact it happened so quick after surgery is not a good sign, so they want a permanent solution. She is going to have a reconstruction done on the stoma to widen the area to prevent future obstruction. Obviously another surgery isn’t ideal right when we were starting to get our feet back under us. But the team is great at what they do and confident that this is the right way to proceed and that it will give her the best outcome for the long run.
She’s understandably a little defeated and dreading the possibility of another NG tube, but we are hopeful that recovery will go smoother since this will be less invasive than the original procedure. It also helps that we finally got back on the GI floor and have continued our sting of amazing nursing staff.
