It has been one week since Christyna’s surgery. Everything is good, and I’ll go in depth in a moment. First, thank you all for your love and support during this last week. I am having trouble being in the presence of the love. It’s a lot. MaryJane and Stephanie are running point on so many things, and a special thank you to you both. Christyna has surrounded herself with love and community. Thank you for being part of the community.
See what I did there? You had to read the thanks to get Christyna’s health update. The community gives life and rise to Christyna (and my) power and strength.
I took Christyna to her surgeon’s office and she got a check up (and another scheduled for next week). She is healing very well and had a drainage tube removed. One week and half the drainage tubes are out. The rest will come out in due time.
They were very pleased with how easily and quickly Christyna is moving. She has also walked more today than she has the last 3 days combined! Her strength and stamina are coming back, and the medical team acknowledged it. We were given a few new supplies (gauzes and creams) to aid in the healing process. The level and personalization of the care Christyna is receiving is extraordinary. The team spent the time to really go in depth with christyna about the procedure so she knows (for herself) what she can do to aid her recovery and discovery of her new self.
We have a bit to go. I was joking with people that last Thursday was 5% of the total work to be done. I’d gauge this last week as putting us at about 20% total. It’s been lots and has come so far this past week. I’m in awe of her. Just, wow.
That’s the high level update. Things are going good and she’s on the right path. The Drs are very pleased and she has less stuff dangling from her body. She’s beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. (I did her hair today, and she said I did a good job, so she’s extra beautiful!)
