Chloe Cheavens
Chloe just completed one of the toughest phases of her cancer treatment. The delayed intensification phase lasted 8 weeks and was one of the most difficult since her diagnosis in April. All of the treatments intensified during this phase: more chemo, infusions, injections, transfusions, steroids, etc. There were a few stressful visits to the emergency room with fevers. We’re breathing a sigh of relief that this phase is at an end.
This week she’ll be admitted into the hospital so they can monitor her as she starts a month-long immunotherapy drug. The drug is given to her 24 hours a day, every day through her port via a backpack. So, she’ll spend Christmas this year attached to a backpack. But there are worse things! Hopefully we’ll look back at pictures from this time and say “Remember the Christmas you had to wear the backpack? It was a great Christmas!”
There’s still a long road ahead. The full treatment plan timeline goes into 2027. We’re continuing to take things day by day and we’re so thankful for everyone’s support.
