Tuesday we received the news that the cancer has spread. There are 5 spots total now in the brain and one in the spinal cord- all leptomeningeal disease. 

 

He has been off chemo since Jan 9th. AJ knows the results but not the acuity of them. While our hearts broke, he took the news as well as anyone could. Never shed a tear or had an ounce of worry. 

 

This Nov marks 7yrs that AJ has been fighting brain cancer. This year has undoubtedly been the hardest in so many ways. Its heartbreaking that he has to continue to fight so hard. Tues night during a conversation with him he said "we have done it before, we will  do it again." The most courageous kid ever! 

 

So today he was started back up on chemo and we will continue doing all the alternative therapies and things we can to keep fighting this beast. Putting our faith and trust in God that he will heal AJ. 

 

AJ initially relapsed with leptomeningeal disease in May 2020 and at that time we were told we were buying time. Once cancer spreads to the meninges there is no cure and not many options are available. We have known this but have still exhausted all options and resources to which by the grace of God its given us another 4yrs. On Tuesday once again we were met with the news "we can try more chemo to buy time." 

 

Imagine being told your days with your child are counted. We all know we are on borrowed time but when met with those words in regards to your child that should have a lifetime ahead of them- there are no words. We will Never Ever Give Up!
