Morning! 

So I haven’t given an update since last hospital stay, and here we are, back at Frodtert for yet another surgery! It’s crazy how I my entire life having my tonsils removed when I was 16, to having 5 surgeries in a 2 months. 

So I have been on antibiotics for staph mssa since I left the hospital so I thought it there was no way I could be getting an infection on the other side, but I sure did! I didn’t have symptoms like last time (high fever, body aches) but they said the antibiotics were probably trying to help that infection but since it was never washed out, the staph had surrounded the expander and was painful all over. 

I went to plastics office at 1030 and the nurse practitioner Kelsey called the Doc  and showed him some pics, and immediately had me go to Frodtert to get it removed. 

By 230, I was under and had decided to get them both removed. I have decided to change my reconstruction process and not do the implants. I will eventually try the fat transfer reconstruction, where they take the fat from your stomach and move it to the chest. This decision lets me not have expanders and I’m so happy about this. The doc said that infection rate is 3% for fat transfer and for implants, especially now that I have had two infections, is very high. I can not mentally or physically deal with this again. 

Just a couple hiccups in the journey, but we’re getting there. The worst part is that I just want to me a normal mom again. Play catch with Everly or shoot hoops with Madden. I can’t even rock Colson since I can’t carry him. 😢 This part is the worst. Watching my husband take all the mental load that I normally have and work full time is hard. 

But for those out there not married yet, make sure you pick a guy who will be there in sickness and in health. He has not complained once, always helping, and having so much patience with this journey. ❤️
